Meditation: I Offer My Life

There’s this song called “I Offer My Life” written by Don Moen. It’s one of my favourite songs to date. It sums up beautifully the posture we should take daily. See lyrics below:

All that I am, all that I have, I lay them down before You, oh Lord. All my regrets, all my acclaims, the joy and the pain, I’m making them Yours.

Lord, I offer my life to You. Everything I’ve been through, use it for Your glory. Lord, I offer my days to You. Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice. Lord, I offer You my life.

Things in the past, things yet unseen. Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true. All of my hopes, all of my plans. My heart and my hands are lifted to You

What can we give that You have not given? And what do we have that is not already Yours? All we possess are these lives we’re living in. That’s what we give to You, Lord

This song is so melodic, and the lyrics are very good. It sings out Christians’ best wishes. Think of that time when you were singing your heart out; being willing to offer everything—hopes, plans, and even your life to God, hoping that you can glorify Him through your experiences. To live a life that’s totally surrendered to God should be our daily posture.

Yield yourself to God; put yourself totally at His disposal. We could avoid a lot of sorrow, pain, frustration and fruitless energy if we would only completely give ourselves to the Lord without reservation. When we make ourselves available to Him to use us in whatever way He chooses, He in His infinite love, care, faithfulness and wisdom does the very best thing with us and for us.

For reflection: What areas of your life do you find difficult to surrender to God?

Prayer: Lord, here I am. I offer my life to you as a pleasing sacrifice. Take full control, and use me as you please. I withhold nothing from you. Take my life and let it be all that you would have it be. All that you have given to me; my life, my talents, my desires—I give them back to you. Have your own sweet way in my Life. Amen.
