An opportunity is a time or set of circumstances that make it possible for something to happen. I have begun to realize that God-given opportunities are most sought after but no one truly knows much about the big O. One of the most important journeys of an individual is the journey to their divine purpose and carrying out that purpose. This journey is filled with small opportunities that lead to that big O but many miss these opportunities along the way.
5 Things You Need to Know about Opportunities
-
Opportunities come quickly
Opportunities come so quickly that many persons miss them. In most cases, you won’t realize that an opportunity is an opportunity until it happens. The key to not missing an opportunity is obedience. What God tells you to do is important. When you do what God tells you to do is even more important.
-
Opportunities are subtle and discreet
Moments are happening every second but what makes a moment the perfect moment or an opportunity? Opportunities don’t always come with a clear sign. It is important that our thoughts, words and actions are aligned with God always. You may be in a position to bless someone less fortunate monetarily, not knowing that by doing so you are one step closer to an opportunity you have been praying for.
-
Opportunities are divinely aligned
No opportunity is granted that God doesn’t know about. God is purposeful with the opportunities He presents. An opportunity may seem pointless to those around you. It may seem as if what you are doing is foolishness. Romans 10:11. What beautiful about opportunities is that they always take you directly where God wants you to be.
-
Opportunities come before, during and after preparation
There are opportunities that will come to initiate a preparation process. Opportunities will come during the preparation process to keep you in preparation mode. And, opportunities will come after you have prepared to initiate what you have been preparing for.
-
An opportunity is a final step to God’s answer to your prayer
I remember when I was praying for a full-time job as soon as I graduated University. My answer came in the form of an opportunity; one that I would have turned down if I wasn’t in tune with the Holy Spirit. Accepting that initial opportunity inspired instruction and directives from God. A week later I was employed.
While you wait for your divine opportunities, note that there are behaviours and attitudes that will cause the door of opportunity to close.
Things that close the doors to opportunities
- Doubt & Hesitation
Move purposefully and quickly. Opportunities are time sensitive. They wait on no one and there is no guarantee when another will come. - Disobedience
1 Samuel 15:22. Do not miss an opportunity due to disobedience. - Dishonour
Exodus 20:12. Honour is important to God. You should honour your parents, your elders, your peers, and your leaders. Failure to honour the relationships in your life will lead to closed doors of opportunity. - Disloyalty
Disloyalty to your church or your faith will close doors. Your church includes the ministry groups you have committed to. Be loyal to them and God will be loyal to you.
