Being ok with the mundane

I’m not sure about you, but I can say that this year started out as my least favourite year. Covid happened; life slowed down, people started losing their jobs – and on top of all of that, we had to endure being quarantined at home for very long hours. Things started to get boring and routine after a while.

However, as the year progressed, my perspective began to change, and I grew in my faith. I realized how precious each day really is, even if it is routine. I discovered that God really wants us to enjoy life even when routine or adverse. Our outlook is that we can only enjoy life when we have enjoyable circumstances, but the enjoyment of life is not founded in the “fun things” — it’s an attitude of the heart we decide to accomplish. It’s a decision to enjoy even the small, insignificant things.

Even the mundane days are important in the whole scheme of things, and we need to learn how to be ok with that. If you’re used to a fast-paced kind of life, learn to be ok when life slows down. Maybe try slowing down with life too? Ask yourself “What is God trying to teach me in this season of life?”

Life, as it is right now, can sometimes be very frightening and confining. But in the midst of the hardship; make a decision to change your attitude and outlook, and enjoy what you can. Rejoice and be glad in the days given to you by God (Psalm 118:24).

The bible tells us that God came so that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Abundant life is a life of satisfaction and contentment in Jesus. It’s a life that has an overflow of joy and enjoyment. So if you’re currently going through the motions; doing stuff without making much effort to do them well, talk to God.

There could be a lot that you need to learn in this season, so don’t slip into depression. Stay positive, and talk to God.
