Did you know that your gifts and talents can become like sleeping volcanoes— dormant and of no use to you or anyone around you? Yes, beloved. If you don’t use the gifts that the Lord gave to you they will become dormant—and that is what is happening to many. Many have become inactive, and are comfortable in their state of dormancy.
It’s not that you’re not gifted or talented, you are asleep and have been sleeping for too long. O, but dear child, dormant volcanoes can stir to life in mere days instead of hundreds of years. You can be thoroughly heated by the Spirit of the living God again.
Did you not know that it’s a dangerous thing to be asleep and don’t know it? If you are asleep, you probably do not know it. This sleepiness in the Christian is exceedingly dangerous because he can do a great deal while he is asleep that will make him look as if he were quite awake. “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14). Wake up from your sleep sons and daughters of the most high God. The Lord desires to shine His light on you again. He desires to do a new thing in you.
Wake up you sleeper! The man who is asleep does not care what becomes of his neighbours; how can he while he is asleep? Souls need to be saved. The world needs to hear your sound. Do not get comfortable in that dormant state. What can a volcano do when it’s inactive? What can a volcano do while it sleeps? You shall rise and walk in your purpose. You shall rise and do what you’ve been created to do. You will erupt and be an impressive force of nature. You will be like a volcano that dominates the landscape and have an active role in shaping the earth’s geography.
“It is time to wake up,” says the Lord.
