Don’t be afraid to share your faith

When was the last time you shared your faith with someone; can you remember? If you’ve never shared your faith with anyone before, why? Is it because of fear?

Maybe you’re afraid to share your faith because you don’t know what to say. Or, maybe you’re sharing the Gospel but nothing is happening; people aren’t committing their lives to Christ—and you wonder if you’re doing something wrong.

The truth is that you can’t open someone’s heart to the truth of the Gospel—but God can, by His Spirit. The Apostle Paul wasn’t eloquent, but God used him because he depended on the Holy Spirit to guide him (see 1 Corinthians 2:1-5). God guided many others in the Bible as well—like Moses, who at first asked God to get someone else to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land.

I understand your fear! I’ve been sharing my faith with people for years, yet I still have those moments where I feel like I’ve been given a shot of adrenaline, my heart races and my mind suddenly seems to go blank. Remember though, God equips those He calls—and as Christians, we are all called to share what Christ has done. Some of Christ’s last words on earth were, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Christ didn’t suggest that we share our faith, He commanded us to. Sharing the gospel with people isn’t always an easy thing to do, but  Christ is worth sharing with the world. I have tasted and seen (I’m sure you have too) the ways of this world, and I can safely say that they can’t be compared to the ways of Christ.

The gospel is a gift that was freely given to us, and so we must freely give it to others. Our job is not to worry about what people do after we’ve shared. It is to go out and plant the seeds, and then allow Christ to do the work of watering.

The harvest is ready and waiting for the labourers to reap. Lean in and step out. Go with boldness; Christ is with you. It’s terrifying at times, but then so exhilarating! As Christians, it is a joy to speak life into the lives of those around us so they too may know and enjoy this hope of Christ that is within us.

The harvest is waiting for you!
