Don’t be afraid to tell all of your stories! Did God pay a great prize for you? Yes! His one and only Son? Yes! You’ve been washed clean, and forgiven? Yes! You are now a new creation? Yes! God now calls you His own? Yes! So, beloved, why are you ashamed of your story? Why do you omit the not so beautiful parts? Don’t cheapen your story by omitting the messy parts. Yes, some things are better left unsaid. But find your tribe and share as God leads.
There’s someone out there who is going through the same things you had to endure. There’s someone out there who is looking for a way out. There is someone out there who needs some encouragement. There’s someone out there who needs to be empowered. There’s someone out there who won’t experience freedom until you open your mouth. Accept your story for what it is and just share.
Don’t worry about what your friends and family will think. Don’t even worry about random strangers. Many are afraid of doing the only thing that we can, and must, do. You see, you can’t be anyone else. Your purpose is to be fully yourself, and share what is uniquely yours to share.
If you want to live a fulfilling life, you have to be willing to walk your own path. Be willing to stand out and let your own unique strengths shine. People want to connect with you. People want to hear what you have to say. Those who you are called to are waiting to hear from you. In the telling of your story, the good, the bad, the painful and the devastating, you heal.
Own your story, don’t run away from it. Give God the shame you may still be feeling and let Him free you. When you are real and vulnerable (with the right people), you don’t realise, not only are you healing but you are also offering this to others.
