I encourage you to truly pray this prayer from your heart. Remember, our reason for forgiving is because God commanded us to forgive so we too can receive forgiveness from Him. Though this is a hard thing for us to do at times, this is how He wants us to live.
Abba, thank you for the gift of forgiveness. Thank you, for sending your son to die on the cross so that my sins could be forgiven. Father, many times I sin and fall short of Your glory and you choose to extend Your hand of mercy and love me again. Thank You! Father, because of Your grace and mercy, I stand before you clean. Before you, I am forgiven. I no longer have to walk with my head held down in guilt and shame. I walk freely knowing that you, my good Father has given me this beautiful gift of forgiveness, and I will not take it for granted. Instead, I wear it with honour!
Father, as you have forgiven me, give me a heart to willingly forgive others. Give me eyes to see your created ones through the blood of your precious son. Father, I confess that many times I have not obeyed your command to forgive others as You have forgiven me, and I repent of this. I confess that it is very difficult to do, but with you all things are possible. Abba, teach me your ways. Teach me what it truly means to forgive, and give me the grace to do as you do. Father, I commit myself into Your hands again, and I ask that you would remove every drop of unforgiveness that is in my heart. I release every person that has wronged me or the ones I love. Father, I release them into your hands, and I bless them! May they go in peace, abounding more and more in your love.
As for me, Abba, show me the ways in which I need to forgive myself. I admit and confess that I am not perfect, but you are. I now open up my heart and ask that you would pour your love and the blood of Jesus that speaks a better word on me. Speak your words of grace, love and freedom to my heart. Abba, thank you for healing the parts of my heart that need healing. Thank you for releasing the burden of unforgiveness that I have carried for so long. Abba, I rest right here in your hands, knowing that all is well with my soul.
