God, The Father: Day 3

Our heavenly Father sees and knows everything about us. He sees every pain and struggle, knows where we’ve walked, and He’s able to heal each wounded heart and broken place. He’s the only One who can work so powerfully, that He can pay attention to each one of us simultaneously. He can take all of our hurts, and turn them around for good somehow (Romans 8:28). He can bring blessing from the hardest of places so that down the road, we can grow stronger, learn to lean on His faithfulness and bring hope to another who may share the same struggle.

ABBA promises to never leave us to fend for ourselves or try to figure things out on our own. He forgives and helps us to forgive. He gives us the power to let go of resentment and bitterness, to choose what is better, so that we can keep moving forward. He is a good Father and desires for you to know Him as such.  He has many wonderful attributes that I would love to draw your attention to. Day after day these attributes are put on display as He is unchanging; He is the same as yesterday and will be forevermore. Let’s look at a few of them so you can be reminded of how good your Father is, and how loved you are:

He is…

  1. Merciful — “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
  2. Faithful— “The Lord’s lovingkindness indeed never ceases, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
  3. Gracious — The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Psalm 145:8-9.
  4. Patient — But He, the source of compassion and lovingkindness, forgave their wickedness and did not destroy them; Many times He restrained His anger And did not stir up all His wrath. Psalms 78:38
  5. Kind — So that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:7-8

Respond:

Meditate on these attributes of God. Do you have any other attribute that you would add to this list? Please share in the comments so that we can all meditate on this attribute together.

PS: I pray that at the end of your meditation you will see how good your heavenly Father has been to you and how loved you are.
