How to know if I am stewarding my resources well

“Am I stewarding my resources well?” Is a question we should all ask ourselves.

God said something to me some time ago that convicted me. He said, “The truth is this: Many are asking for more but don’t know how to manage the little they have. First, learn how to manage the little and then the more will come.” Be it your money, talents, business, marriage, you name it; each is ours to manage every day of our lives, and we are to manage them well.

1 Chronicles 29:12 says, “Wealth and honour come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.” This is one of the most challenging aspects of biblical stewardship that Christians have to grasp. There are times when we feel we’ve earned something by our own merit or effort, but even then, God is the one who deserves the credit. He is the one that deserves the glory and He is the one who has true ownership. I can imagine Him wanting us to take good care of all that He has entrusted us with.

You may tell yourself that God did not entrust you with anything, but from the day you received Christ, you gained the right to be called a child of God. And with that position came the responsibility of pitching in to help meet the family’s needs. God has equipped you by His Holy Spirit to be a blessing in a very unique way. In God’s family, everyone is considered “gifted.” Regardless of your personality, your IQ, or how high or low you rank on the social strata, you are gifted. If you don’t know what gifts you’ve been given, ask god. You are needed in the body of Christ—just as God designed.

No matter your age or ability, be wise in how you manage what God has given you—and if you don’t know how to do that, get help. There are so many resources out there, including the bible. Check out this blog called ‘And All These Things’. It gives a faith-driven perspective on stewardship.
