Let All You Do Be Done In Love

“Let all you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

Be motivated by love! Complications will inevitably arise but when love is present in all areas of your life blessings overflow. To achieve that we must stay close to God because God is love and he teaches us what love looks like even in the worst of times.

Loving others means putting away our selfish desires and to “simply get over ourselves.” As Paul encourages the Christian Corinthians to be imitators of Christ and to be motivated by love and love alone, so are we to encourage each other of the same.

Throughout Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, there are practical admonitions and little encouragements for the saints in Corinth to live lives that honour the Lord. Paul wanted all the believers there to grow in their Christian faith and to walk in spirit and truth. He tackled things that caused division within the church and exposed the foolishness of human wisdom, by contrasting it with the wisdom of God. He touched on marriage and related matters and laid down principles of godly conduct. He discussed the importance of the Lord’s Supper, the varieties of spiritual gifts and the supremacy of love.

Love is the fulfilling of the Law, and only as we allow the love of Christ to saturate our being, as we die to self and walk in spirit and truth, can this Christlike characteristic be executed.

Pray this prayer:

Abba, let me be rooted and grounded in love, give me the grace to follow the command of Jesus, which is to love even as He has loved.  Holy Spirit, I pray that you would bring me into the experiential reality of the love of God so that I will be blessed and changed by the Master’s love would go on to do all I do in love, following the glorious example He has set for me. May I be submitted to loving God and loving people as you have instructed.

Abba, give me the grace to fight for the love that abides in Your heart. Let it be poured out in mine, and abound still more and more. May I be one that chooses love in every season; love for you, and love for your bride, in Jesus’s name.

Father, deliver me from selfish ambition. Put the same love that you have for Jesus in me.  Put the same love you have for the church and the world in me.  May all that I do be done in love, for that is what you have commanded, Amen.
