Oh, what a glorious day it will be when we finally stand face to face with our king. The day when nothing else will matter. It’s a day to look forward to. It’s going to be a day when everything will make sense; All the struggles, the pruning, the refining that we had to go through… it will all make sense. Are you looking forward to the day when you will be given over to your King? The more I think of that day, the more my heart longs for Him like a lovesick bride.
Beloved, today I want to remind you that the day when we get to stand before Jesus face to face is soon coming. The Bridegroom longs for His bride. He longs for our presence and our intimacy. He longs to sing love songs and rejoice over His bride with singing. He is ready and waiting for us to also be ready. As I was reminded, I want to remind you to be watchful, and while you wait for that glorious day, prepare yourself.
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins tells us that “The kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of the ten were wise and the other five foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. At midnight a cry was heard: “Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish virgins said to the wise virgins, “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.” The wise answered, saying, “No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.” And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
Those who were ready to meet the king went in with Him, but the door was closed on those who weren’t ready. On which side do you want to fall? Matthew 25:13 says, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” While you wait, set yourself to watch, pray, and prepare. Don’t be like foolish virgins who afterwards cried saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us!” Be ready so the door won’t close on you as it did on the foolish virgins who weren’t ready for the king. Even if you fall asleep because of His delay, be prepared to act immediately when you are unexpectedly awakened.
Beloved be ready for that glorious day. The price of failing to be ready is too high.
