Social media gives us such access to people’s lives. We have direct access to what persons choose to show – usually the high points of their life. Nobody really shares the bad stuff. Do you? We see the glorified presentation of who individuals are or who they want to be. While there are many positives to this kind of display, there are many pitfalls as well. Many individuals measure their worth and accomplishments based on what they think everyone else is doing. I know many will read the latter statement and exclude themselves by saying “Oh no, I don’t do that.” Sadly, the reality is that when you’re bombarded with these displays, many can’t help – if even for a split second – to analyze their own lives and wonder if they’re doing enough.
Be Focused
I believe that as Christians, we can’t afford to get entangled in this mindset. We are all called according to God’s purpose (Romans 8:28). God’s purpose not our purpose. That means that we really have no control over what happens in our lives and when it happens. We just have to walk according to God’s will for our lives in obedience and honour to Him. And walking according to God’s will for our lives sounds easy but it is definitely not.
It would appear as though you’re in the same position and doing the same things (or better things) as your neighbour but the things that you want to happen for you in this moment is happening for your neighbour but not you. Why? You are qualified, you are talented, you are blessed, but the sequence of activities and accomplishments for your life just doesn’t add up. Why? You are called but where are the resources or the opportunities to activate that call? My answer is that you simply have not yet gotten to your peak season.
Although it is easy to become overwhelmed, distracted, or discouraged when things aren’t going the way we want them to, we must acknowledge that God’s timing is perfect. It is important to continue the preparation process (the wait for peak season to arrive) that we are in. Some persons peak at the age of 6 years and continue throughout life, while others will peak at 36 years or even 66 years. What is important is that we are ready for our PEAK season.
Rejoice! There’s Hope
I am patiently waiting for my PEAK season. I know in my heart that anything that takes long to prepare must be something GRAND and I am so excited. So, stop wondering why you haven’t completed your degree as yet. Stop wondering why “Mr. Right” hasn’t proposed. Stop wondering why you haven’t gone on to the job that pays you what you’re worth. Just wait. Why? Because PEAK SEASON is coming! This deserves a SHOUT of PRAISE! So I end by saying a rowdy HALLELUJAH!!
