Stop looking in the rearview mirror and look forward in faith.
In this season of life, many are waiting for things to go back to normal. Many are reminiscing on the days when they could mix and mingle, hang out late with friends, party all night long, hang out at the corner shop or even greet a friend with a hug. Those are the days many are looking forward to, and because those days don’t seem to be coming any time soon, many are sad and depressed. But the Lord is saying, “Trust me! Stop looking in the rearview mirror and look forward in faith.”
It is human nature to review your past because it is what has led us to where we are today. Our past is familiar. We know what happened (at least our version of what happened) and the future is unknown and scary. But, God is calling you to look ahead and not remain stuck in the past. Life goes on, and there is still much to be done. Pick up that planner that you threw down, go ahead with that business idea, adapt and find new ways to make life work for you. If it means going back to the drawing board, do so with God. Don’t keep looking in the rearview mirror wishing things would go back to being as they were.
Look ahead, but don’t do so with doubt and fear. Don’t look with your physical eyes. Instead, get into the word, learn to hear the voice of God, and ask Him to open your spiritual eyes. To cope with life as it is, it’s going to take you shifting your focus. Keep your eyes on God, and learn to trust Him.
Friend, don’t spend too much time looking at what’s behind you that you find yourself stuck in that place. Don’t get stuck in the past because it is easier than dealing with the present and the future. Look ahead and trust God.
