The Lord is compassionate & gracious

“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…. It’s because of his mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.” Exodus 34:6 & Lamentations 3:22

May every one of us, every day we live, awake from our sleep, and rise from our beds with these words of humble confession and acknowledgement, and of thankful praises to the God of the universe, the numbers of whose daily and mighty salvation we know not.

The Lord, the Lord, He is good to all. Day unto day, may we utter these words and command our souls to bless the Lord, and night unto night shows them, “That it is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed because His compassions fail not.”

We are a people, a nation set in our rebellious ways. Many times we deserve a severe dealing from the Lord for the wrong we continue to do, but what comes to us is kindness. The Lord’s mercies; his love, compassion and care meet us every morning. He does not deal with us as we deserve by giving us the punishment we truly deserve. What a kind and compassionate God!

Think about these things! Think about how the Lord continues to show you mercy—and as Paul said in Romans, may the kindness of God lead you to repentance. Take not his kindness for granted. Take not His care, compassion and mercies for granted. Instead, as you enjoy God’s lovingkindness, turn from your ways and approach his throne of grace through the blood of Jesus.

Bless the Lord you who continues to receive His grace and mercy! Bless Him and praise His holy name!

Prayer:

Thank You, Lord, for Your lovingkindness toward me! You drew me with lovingkindness and You loved me with eternal love. May this lovingkindness lead me to repent of all my ways that hurt you. Oh Lord, thank You for Your lovingkindness and compassions in forgiving my sins, healing me, redeeming me, and caring for me. It is Your lovingkindness that I am not consumed, for Your compassions do not fail—they are new every morning. Thank you, Lord, Amen.
