The Praying Woman: Be Saturated In Prayer

Philippians 4:6-7

Sometimes I wonder if people think that I’m crazy because I’m always talking to myself… or so they think! What they don’t know is that when I seem to be talking to myself, it is intercession that is taking place. The thing is, staying saturated in prayer throughout my day is like an antidote for my anxious heart and mind. Life can be very hard, and problems seem to pop up out of the blue!  The only thing left to do is pray because worrying is too expensive!

Philippians 4:6-7 tells us that we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be pulled in different directions or be worried about a thing. Instead, we should be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering our faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. We are told to tell God about every detail of our lives. When we do this, God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers that we need to be known to us.

Many of you may struggle with worry and anxiety. You may be worried or anxious because you have yet to see how a particular situation will work out. To make matters worse, the world is faced with a pandemic that’s wreaking havoc, and that could cause anyone to be worried! But here’s a good thing, these verses give clear directives and offer genuine hope to the believer in Christ. These verses are telling you that there is no need to worry about the way things are. The solution is to give the problems over to the Only One who can actually do something about them. You are to pray in every situation, bringing your requests to God and offering prayers of thanksgiving for what He has already done.

I am sure that when Paul wrote these verses, he was not promising that God would do every single thing you ask of Him.  But he does promise that, when you and I pray about the things that weigh us down, God will change us: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus”. When you really pray about your problems and choose to be thankful, God will give you peace.

So my friend, what will you do? Will you go on living with an anxious mind and worried heart, or will you bring your request before the Lord? Worrying is too expensive, so stay saturated in prayer!

Tip for today:

Personalize the scriptures. When you are praying the scriptures, you simply put your name in the place of pronouns or nouns in scripture. The results will strengthen your faith, encourage you, and move you to pray even more.

Prompt for today:
