For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13

This beautiful truth is found in a section of Romans where Paul expresses his deep desire that all his fellow Israelites, who had not accepted Jesus as their Messiah, would come to saving faith in Him – as the Messiah of Israel and the Saviour of the world.

Paul recognized Israel’s zeal for the Lord and yet also pointed out that they based their righteousness on ‘doing’ the works of the Law rather than ‘believing’ in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

This verse is a testimony and promise taken out of Joel 2:32. It is to prove the truth that all who call upon the name of the Lord, will find him rich and plenteous in mercy, and ready to dispense his grace and salvation to them. It is to prove that all who call upon His name shall be saved; whether Jews or Gentiles; not with temporal salvation only, but with an eternal one.

I, therefore, beseech you brethren; repent of your sins and turn back to the Lord. Everyone that calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Salvation is offered to anyone who will call on the name of the Lord – and that name is JESUS, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). The only way to really know and be reconciled to the Father in heaven is through Him. Let me remind you that you and I are incapable of saving ourselves, but Jesus can – It is His doing alone. So while you can; still young and able to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved, do it! Don’t wait until it’s too late. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near (Isaiah 55:6).
