The Ambiguity of 2019

To the person who had no New Year resolution, clear life-changing goals or new announcements to post at the start of 2019: it’s okay. I was never one to write a long reflective post at the start or end of any year. My transparency only runs so deep. Though I am open about many aspects of my life, I am still a bit reserved and protective with most parts. Especially in the areas of life changes and transitions. You will hear the story after all the kinks are worked out. However, if it still seems a bit blurry in my head, I will hold on to it for now.

It is totally fine to not know what the new year brings. If you’re like me, you only know when God says it. You live a life of obedience that’s already written and being orchestrated by God. Until you’re told your next step you sit still in praise, worship, and obedience until your next obedient act leads to the next thing. That’s perfectly fine.

I don’t know about you but 2019 feels loaded with all good things. However, 2019 requires more of you. On one hand, 2019 has everything you have been praying for. But, to acquire and keep it you will endure even more intense training. Consider this your final stretch before the next phase of your life.

Work Hard & Achieve

The phrase: “hard work brings success” is one everyone should know. It is a proven fact. In order to achieve, one must work to achieve. Vision boards have become one of the most effective trends for millennials. Even though Habakkuk has been telling us to “make the vision plain”. Sadly, many persons believe that writing something on paper is all it takes to achieve that thing. While faith activates, work brings it to life. So, in 2019, if you have set goals, please ensure that you take physical steps to achieve them.

Study to show yourself APPROVED

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. You will need the word of God in 2019 so you will need to know the word of God. The faith will be tested more than ever on individual levels and the exploits you do for God will be assessed now more than ever. Defend your faith and calling with the word of God for it is your greatest tool in battle.

Don’t be a Victim

In 2019, own your shortcomings. God is cleaning up the residue of all negative traits still lingering in your character. I have been observing this “I am favoured and loved by God so whatever I do is right” attitude in Christians that I find quite disturbing. The Holy Spirit convicts and corrects but pride won’t let you see it. Be open to change in 2019; the kind of change that propels you into what God has called you to. Many persons live the same realities year after year because they refuse to make character changes. Don’t let that be you.

Best Wishes

Be open to all 2019 has to offer. Go with God every step of the way. Leave worry and fear behind and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling – Philippians 3:14. The best is always yet to come. What you see is just the tip of the iceberg, Don’t aim to figure your life all out at once but live in reverence and obedience to God and take each season as it comes. Remember:

Matthew 6:33 King James Version (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

All the best for the new year.
