A Guide to Easy Jamaican Peppered Shrimp

Pepper Shrimp

Peppered Shrimp is one of those Jamaican delicacies that pack a punch. If you are a lover of prawn, spice and intense flavour profiles, then you should try this peppered shrimp recipe.

RECIPE – Peppered Shrimp
Ready in 30 Minutes
Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Head-on Shrimp
  • 2 Tbsp Red Crushed Chili
  • 3 cloves of Garlic
  • ¼ Cup Salt
  • 1 Tsp Whole allspice berries (Pimento Seed)
  • ¼ Cup Vinegar
  • 3 Sprigs Thyme
  • 4 Cups Water
  • For Saute
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 whole Scotch Bonnet Pepper sliced

Preparation

  • Bring water, Red crushed Chilli, vinegar, garlic, salt, pimento and thyme to a boil. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Add head-on shrimp to the pot and cook for 3 minutes. Drain (save liquid) and set shrimp aside.
  • Saute shrimp with remaining scotch bonnet pepper and butter on medium heat. Serve!

Tips

  • Save the stock in your freezer for your next batch of Peppered Shrimp!
