To the young converts with a radical conversion

I know you are passionate, full of zeal and desire for everyone to see, understand and respect what you’ve experienced. You are eager to join a church, be a part of the work of the Lord and give your all. You look around but the atmosphere looks and feels different from what you know to be true. You see that people are weary, nonchalant, don’t seem to give their all to the cause. There’s gossip. You witness adultery, lust in action, lies, you name it. You thought that the house of the Lord was perfect – pristine even – and full of love, togetherness and hope. You’re disappointed but remain passionate because you know what you’ve experienced.

So you run…

You run with that fire and that passion. You run with your mandate and mission for others to know the truth and experience the God you’ve experienced. Only a few talk about Him like you do but you long for that united, honest declaration that Jesus is Lord.

In your pursuit, you rub a few shoulders. You don’t see eye to eye with many of those set to lead and guide you. You start to feel the hurt and face the reality. You pick up your first wound.

You had no idea that the journey would have been so hard. You had no idea that you would be limping most of the way – that you would gain momentum only to be struck down again. But you maintain your service.

No one seems to fully understand what you represent, what you’ve experienced with God or what you desire to see happen in the body of Christ in regard to souls being won. All you know is that you’re different, your approach to fulfilling your purpose seems different and you stick out like a sore thumb.

You long for that unity and that belonging but your encounters forever contradict what is biblical and you refuse to sell God short. You don’t fit into the church mould but you are committed to doing things God’s way with faith, obedience and humility.

I’m here to tell you that your path will not be easy. It will be lonely and the enemy will do everything in his power to demotivate, discourage and distract you. His main mission is to have you doubt God’s place in your life. Continue to seek Him, spend time in God’s presence, pray and read the word. This is where you gain strength to continue on. Don’t be distracted by the hurt or the behaviour of those who should know better. Remain humble. Don’t bleed and spew hate on social media. Your tribe will come. Your covering in sound leadership will come. Guard your heart, continue to heal and prepare for that moment.

Your best days in God are yet to come. As you grow in Him, you will experience new dimensions of Him. Each phase of your journey equips you for your call. Keep pressing, keep blazing the fire of the Holy Spirit and remember, God loves you.
