How to personalise God’s love for you

If His eye is on the sparrow, how much more you? How much more you? Think about that for a while. When you’re done thinking, read the scripture below that has been personalized for you.

Matthew 6:26-34:

Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns. But my heavenly Father feeds the birds. And I know that I am worth much more than the birds. I cannot add any time to my life by worrying about it. “And why do I worry about clothes? Look at the flowers in the field. See how they grow. They don’t work or make clothes for themselves. Even Solomon with his riches was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers. God clothes the grass in the field like that. The grass is living today, but tomorrow it is thrown into the fire to be burned. So I can be even more sure that God will clothe me. Don’t have so little faith, (insert name)! Don’t worry and say, ‘What will you eat?’ or ‘What will you drink?’ or ‘What will you wear?’ All the people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things. And my Father in heaven knows that I need them. The thing I should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things I need will be given to me. So don’t worry about tomorrow, (insert name). Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries.

God’s eyes are on you, and He cares for you way more than the birds of the air. God provides for the birds, and He takes care of them. Therefore, you should expect that God would take care of you. Everything that you have need of now, He knows about. And He says, “Don’t worry!” God’s eyes are on you. Every worry, frustration, and anxiety He knows.

Do you actually know how much God loves and cares for you? I once heard a preacher say that “the worry many people have over the things of this life is rooted in a low understanding of their value before God.” Do you understand how much God values you? Do you understand how much God desires to bless you with good and perfect gifts? Beloved, be concerned with the right things; the ultimate issues of life – and then leave the management (and the worry) over material things with your heavenly Father.

“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” Worry accomplishes nothing; you can add nothing to your life by worrying. Actually, you may add some wrinkles and grey hair to your head. Worrying accomplishes nothing good. All it does is keep you in this unhealthy cycle that leads to stress. Stress is one of the great contributors to disease and poor health. What if, instead of worrying, you actually believed God’s word? Wouldn’t trusting God be of more benefit to you?

“To think the Lord who clothes the lilies will leave his own children naked is shameful. O little faith, learn better manners!” (Spurgeon). That’s a very strong statement, but when you do think about it, it is what it is. God likes when His children put their trust in Him, and when we do the opposite, it hurts Him.

Therefore, beloved, do not worry. Instead, walk in freedom by trusting that God knows what you need, and what you need He will provide. Order your priorities, by seeking first the kingdom of God. Replace your worry with a concern for the kingdom matters and let God take care of the rest. He promises heavenly treasure, rest in His divine provision, and fulfillment of His highest purpose for you – fellowship with Him, and being part of His kingdom.

What will you do today and the rest of the week:

  1. Surrender the things that worry you and trust that God will take care of them.
  2. Ask God to show you how valuable you are to Him.
  3. Memorize, meditate on, and pray through Matthew 6:26-34.
